MATAR CHOLE!!

Dried peas a good source of fiber and starch, it also provides energy burn while stabilizing blood sugar level. It also lowers the risk of coronary heart disease.



















INGREDIENTS:

  • dried yellow peas (soaked) - 2 cup
  • onion (sliced) - 2 med
  • onion paste - 1 med
  • tomato - 1 med
  • garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • chole masala - 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • salt
  • chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • chat masala - 1 tsp
  • ginger- 1/2 inch
  • hing(asafoetida) - 1 pinch
  • oil
  • cumin seeds
  • green chilli - 2

METHOD:
  • heat a pressure cooker and add the soaked yellow peas (without oil)
  • add sliced onion, ginger and hing(asafoetida) and add water (as required for gravy)
  • cover and cook for 2-3 whistles
  • now heat a pan and add little oil
  • add cumin seeds and green chilli and let it crackle
  • then add onion paste, garlic paste, chole masala, salt,turmeric powder, chilli powder and little chat masala (for tadka)
  • pour this hot oil mixture in the cooker with chole and stir it 
  • serve hot  with parartha, puffed rice or beaten rice
